Why You Should See a Chiropractor

If you've ever dealt with nagging neck pain, a sore back after a hike in the foothills, or lingering soreness after a fender bender on I-25, you've probably wondered whether a chiropractor could help. The short answer: for most people dealing with pain, stiffness, or reduced mobility, yes. Chiropractic care is one of the most effective non-surgical options for musculoskeletal issues, and at Buffalo Spine & Sport Chiropractic, we see everyone from elite athletes to office workers to car accident patients walk through our doors looking for lasting relief.

Here's a closer look at what chiropractic care actually does, who it helps, and how our approach here in Denver works.

What Does a Chiropractor Actually Do?

Chiropractors diagnose and treat conditions related to the spine, joints, muscles, and nervous system. At Buffalo Spine & Sport, our care goes beyond a basic adjustment. We combine precise adjustments with a full range of clinical modalities designed to get to the root cause of pain rather than just masking symptoms, including:

Chiropractic adjustments for spinal alignment and nerve impingement relief

  • Flexion-Distraction therapy, a gentle, motorized traction technique for disc bulges and sciatica

  • Spinal Decompression, computer-guided traction that helps rehydrate and retract herniated disc material

  • Graston Technique, instrument-assisted soft tissue work to break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions

  • Shockwave Therapy, acoustic pulse treatment that accelerates healing for tendonitis and chronic soft tissue injuries

  • Cold Laser Therapy to reduce inflammation and speed cellular repair

Top Reasons to See a Chiropractor

1. Relief from Back and Neck Pain

Back and neck pain are the most common reasons Denver patients walk into our office. Whether it's from sitting at a desk all day or years of accumulated postural strain, spinal adjustments reduce pressure on irritated nerves and restore normal joint movement, often without medication.

2. Recovery After a Car Accident

Auto accidents are one of the most common causes of chronic neck and back pain, and they don't always show symptoms right away. Whiplash, cervical spine compression, and seatbelt-related shoulder injuries can surface days after a collision. At Buffalo Spine & Sport, we utilize targeted treatment protocols to help you recover and support any personal injury claim you may be navigating.

3. Improved Athletic Performance

Sports chiropractic is a core part of what we do. Denver's active, outdoor-driven population of runners, cyclists, skiers, CrossFitters, need joints and muscles that move efficiently under load. Regular sports chiropractic care can help:

  • Improve range of motion and mobility

  • Reduce recovery time between training sessions

  • Correct movement imbalances before they turn into injuries

  • Speed healing after strains, sprains, or overuse injuries

4. Injury Prevention

Chiropractic care isn't only reactive. Many of our patients build regular visits into their routine specifically to catch small imbalances, like a stiff hip or a compensating shoulder, before they turn into bigger problems. This matters most for active Denver residents: skiers, runners, and weekend athletes all put repetitive stress on the same joints and muscles, and catching an imbalance early is a lot easier than recovering from a torn muscle or stress fracture later.

5. Prenatal + Postpartum Care

Pregnancy puts new demands on the spine and pelvis, and many expecting mothers experience low back pain, sciatica, and pelvic discomfort as their bodies change. Chiropractic care, including the Webster Technique, a specific chiropractic approach used to help balance the pelvis and support optimal positioning during pregnancy, can ease discomfort and support a smoother pregnancy. Postpartum, gentle adjustments and rehabilitation help new mothers recover core and pelvic stability as they return to daily life and activity.

6. A Drug-Free, Non-Invasive Option

For patients hoping to avoid or reduce reliance on pain medication, chiropractic care offers a conservative, evidence-based path to managing many common musculoskeletal conditions.

Who Can Benefit from Chiropractic Care?

  • Athletes and active individuals training in and around Denver

  • Office workers dealing with sedentary-job stiffness and tension

  • Car accident patients managing whiplash or collision-related injuries

  • New and expecting parents with pregnancy-related back pain

  • Anyone dealing with chronic stiffness, tension, or reduced mobility

Frequently Asked Questions

Is chiropractic care safe?

Yes - for most people, chiropractic care is a safe, conservative treatment option when performed by a licensed provider. Our team begins every relationship with a full evaluation to make sure a treatment plan is right for you.

How many chiropractic visits will I need?

This depends on your condition. Some patients feel relief after one or two visits, while others, especially those recovering from car accidents or chronic sports injuries, benefit from a longer, structured plan. Patients often notice that they feel better with ongoing, maintenance chiropractic care as well.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No. You can schedule directly with our office. Buffalo Spine & Sport operates as a direct-pay practice, so please contact us to discuss appointment details.

Can chiropractic care help with sports injuries?

Yes. Our sports chiropractic approach treats and prevents athletic injuries, from muscle strains to joint restrictions, using techniques like Graston, Shockwave Therapy, and targeted rehabilitation exercises.

What should I do if I'm in pain after a car accident?

Don't wait for symptoms to worsen. Whiplash and soft tissue injuries often surface days after a collision. We offer immediate evaluations and documentation to support both your recovery and any related claims.

Does chiropractic care hurt?

Most patients report minimal discomfort during adjustments. Some may feel mild, temporary soreness afterward, similar to how you'd feel after a workout.
